Week One of School
Hola! I have officially completed my first week of school in Madrid and I am looking forward to my classes. I am taking a majority of nursing classes with a couple of honors requirements, which is exciting because I'm finally starting to learn how to be a nurse.
My Health Assessment professor, Prof. Buckley, is probably my favorite professor for the semester which is good because she teaches three of my seven classes. She is teaching my health assessment lecture and lab along with my IPE course. Prof. Longeway is also a really good professor who teaches a very engaging lecture where he relates all of the ethical concepts we talk about to stories from his career. My physiology professor, Prof. Boal, is a 25 ish year old physical therapist who works mainly for sports teams in Madrid. His class will be difficult due to the amount of material we need to learn, but it'll be fun. My last professor is Prof. Nelson who teaches health promotion and she is probably my least favorite professor because she lectures with the most monotone and slow voice which is not good for a morning class.
I am very happy with the cafeteria situation though because they have the best sandwiches that are essentially just a giant baguette filled with various meats and cheeses. I can already tell that it will become my go to meal especially when I am busy in-between classes. I do think it is very funny that they sell beer in the cafeteria especially since I'm used to that being so taboo. It's also very jarring to see students smoking outside of the SLU buildings while drinking from a flask at 11 am, but I guess that's just the European lifestyle (which I will not be adopting).
I already have a decent amount of homework, which I expected, but none of these classes will be particularly difficult aside from the fact that most of the grades are just tests, so I will be stressing for the few exams that I have. Sorry that this is such a short post, but as it was essentially syllabus week, there wasn't too much going on and I haven't really explored the city after classes as I have been pretty tired.
This weekend, I will be heading to Valencia for a little beach trip with some friends which I am looking forward to. Unfortunately it is a 5 hour bus ride to Valencia, so I'm dreading the 10 hours of travel time we will have. Anyways, that's about it from me. Adios!
How many people are in your classes? When you go to Valencia look for the little stands that sell freshly squeezed orange juice....it is so refreshing on a hot day.
ReplyDeletecan’t believe you have seven classes!!! also the amount of ppl smoking on campus in ireland was crazy.
